About Complex Systems
General information, references, meetings & events
Complex systems is an interdisciplinary paradigm that provides an unprecedented unified framework for different disciplines, from natural to social sciences, through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods applied at various phases of the research, from observations and data analysis to theory, modeling, simulation, and interpretation of complex phenomena.
This page provides a minimal and partial list of on-line resources for research and study in the field of complex systems.
A lot of material can be found at the educational project Complexity Explorer realized by the historical Santa Fe Institute of Complex Systems.
In particular, you can check the web site “What is Complexity Science?” where you can also download the booklet by Serafina Agnello “COMPLEXITY EXPLAINED”
Giorgio Parisi, Complex Systems: A Physicist's Viewpoint (2002) arXiv-0205297
This is the historical article considered by many the official starting point of complex systems science:
P. W. Anderson (1972) “More is different: Broken symmetry and the nature of the hierarchical structure of science", Science 177, No. 4047, 393 (1972), is a historically relevant paper.
If can read and have information about this historical article in the interesting review by J. Goldstein.
