We are currently in the UNESCO decade 2022-2032 of Indigenous Languages declared by UNESCO in the UN General Assembly on December 18, in order “to draw attention to the critical loss of Indigenous languages and the urgent need to preserve, revitalize, and promote Indigenous language” and to “take urgent steps at the national and international levels.”
This year the Finno-Ugrian Day has been on 2023, October 21st. It is celebrated every year on the third weekend of October in Estonia, Finland, and Hungary and is a national day in Estonia. (The nextFinno-Ugrain Day will be on 2024 October 19th.)
The Week of Italian Language in the World (Settimana della lingua italiana nel mondo) has been celebrated in Estonia in the week October 16-22, 2023 with various events. Now in different weeks it is celbrated in other countries.
